What's his name??? edit

The article currently states "Gustave-Albert", Saltzman in Dr Gachet states "Georges Albert", the French wikipedia article is called "George-Albert" but then in the text of the article calls him "Gabriel-Albert". So which is it?

  • Gustave
  • George
  • Georges
  • Gabriel

Does anyone have a reliable source? Stumps 11:48, 6 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Difficult to say, as Aurier used to sign G. Albert Aurier, even his letters (see Pickvance 1992
letters of condolence, ill. p. 121). Up to now Patricia Mathews (Art Bulletin 1986) seems to have done the most reliable research, and evidently she was the first to give his christian name as Gabriel-Albert. Unfortunately, I don't have a copy at hand. --RPD 19:08, 6 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
I've changed the article to say G. Albert for now, so that at least Wikipedia doesn't serve as yet another unreliable source. Stumps 06:49, 7 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
