Albany and Schenectady Railroad → Mohawk and Hudson Rail Road – The current article heading is misleading to those less informed about the railroad's history. It was chartered, built, and ran as the Mohawk and Hudson Railroad ("Rail Road" as printed on corporate charter) for most of its existence, from 1826 until 1847 when it was reorganized under the name Albany and Schenectady Railroad. The line held that title for only 6 years until it was absorbed into the New York Central Railroad in 1853. Fjd1990 (talk) 01:57, 23 May 2016 (UTC) --Relisted. • Oppose - Proposed name is against WP:COMMONNAME; almost all sources not referring to the charter use "railroad" as one word, so we should be using Mohawk and Hudson Railroad (which redirects here). Another issue is that the title of the article was entirely correct wrt the flow of the article until the nom made a series of edits [1], which included changing the name in the lede. This is also going to need to be a technical move in any case because Mohawk and Hudson Rail Road redirects here already (as does Mohawk and Hudson Railroad Company) and have done so for over a decade, apparently without issue. So I don't see a need to move this at present, but it does need to be worked on extensively for sure. MSJapan (talk) 17:59, 2 June 2016 (UTC)

Opening

This article is still a stub. (Why isn't it stamped Stub?)

When you rewrite it, para. 2 says the RR "opened for public service on August 9, 1831." Para. 2 of section History says "the railroad opened September 24, 1831." Para. 3 of History restates the latter date.

1st order of business: Nix the contradiction, and nix the duplicate statement.

John Bull

First in America. In: Progress 1876

According to this newspaper clipping of 1876, the engine was called John Bull and was made in England. Any comments? --NearEMPTiness (talk) 10:43, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
