Image copyright problem with Image:UAFlogo2.PNG edit

The image Image:UAFlogo2.PNG is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Proposed merge with Carlson Center edit

These are closely related and both short on independent sources. Stuartyeates (talk) 21:33, 30 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

"both short on independent sources"...WP:SOFIXIT. According to the Edit Count tool, you have 40,000+ edits to your credit, virtually all in fairly recent history. This tells me that you have all the time in the world for Wikipedia. That you spend all your time passing judgement on and looking for the slightest excuse to trash the contributions of less active and casual editors is your choice, of course. But it hardly speaks well for Wikipedia, which is suffering from credibility issues and declining participation. Perhaps you should have paid closer attention to WP:DISRUPT and how it pertains to this little crusade of yours.
Now, to the proposal. The UAF hockey team, which has its own article, plays at the Carlson Center. All other UAF athletic teams play/compete on campus. UAF hockey is the primary tenant of the Carlson Center, particularly in light of very few concerts held since Goldenvoice pulled out of the Alaska market ca. 2003 and the short lifespan of the Fairbanks Grizzlies. However, the Carlson Center is a community arena, not a UAF arena. UAF has its own venues; the Patty Building has stood for over a half century. What do recurring events such as the Alaska Federation of Natives convention, the World Eskimo Indian Olympics and Chamber of Commerce luncheons have to do with the UAF athletic program? Really, very little. This should be taken as one editor attempting to keep himself busy without regard for whether his efforts amount to any improvement to the encyclopedia. Agree 100% with these remarks. If the Nanooks games were the only thing that ever happened at the Carlson Center this merger would make sense. There are literally hundreds of WP articles on individual stadiums and sports/entertainment venues. Beeblebrox (talk) 00:32, 25 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
