According the SATP, cited by Stanford, the founder was Mohammed Rashid: "Mufti Mohammed Rashid founded the Al-Rashid Trust (ART) on February 13, 1996, in Karachi."[1]

Stanford further says, "It was founded by Mufti Mohammad Rashid soon after the 1996 Taliban takeover in Afghanistan.[2] Mufti Mohammad Rashid was joined by Mufti Abu Lubaba, who became the group's ideologue, and Maulvi Sibghatulla (of the Dar-ul-Uloom, a religious school in Karachi) who became director of ART's Kandahar operations. "[2]

According to Pepe Escobar, writing in 2001, "Mufti (religious leader) Mohammad Rashid founded the trust soon after the Taliban took over in Afghanistan in 1996. He is the amir (leader) of the trust. Mufti Abu Lubaba is the ideologue, while Maulvi Sibghatullah of the Dar-ul-Uloom (religious school) in Karachi is the director of the trust in Kandahar, the southern Afghan city that serves as the headquarters for the Taliban."

Currently this article says that the Al Rashid trust was founded by Rashid Ahmed Ludhianvi. TheAafi: Is this name just a different name for Mufti Mohammed Rashid, who has been named by several RS as founding the trust? HouseOfChange (talk) 22:43, 25 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

HouseOfChange, These are different variations of same name. This was founded by Rashid Ahmed Ludhianvi who has been referred to as Rashid Ahmed or Mufti Muhammad Rashid in several English sources. Urdu sources explicitly use his most common name. ─ The Aafī on Mobile (talk) 00:42, 26 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
@AafiOnMobile: Thanks, can you provide some RS for this equivalence? It will be good for en-wiki to show the name that he is referred to in at least some English-language sources. HouseOfChange (talk) 01:38, 26 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
HouseOfChange, I hope this helps. I'd look around for some better sources later in the day. ─ The Aafī on Mobile (talk) 04:37, 26 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
@AafiOnMobile: Thanks, that looks very good concerning his being the founder of Al Rashid trust, thank you. It is very confusing that one set of sources exclusively refers to Mohammad and the other set exclusively refers to Ahmad. It will be good if our article about him can help English-speaking people make the connection. HouseOfChange (talk) 04:43, 26 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
HouseOfChange, I just formatted some stuff on Rashid Ahmed Ludhianvi article. Please let me know if this suffices. Part of our approved user group, I'd be happy in improving the quality of the article. ─ The Aafī (talk) 07:43, 26 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
