Surname

We refer to it as Grøndahl. Some other sources do the same, but most encyclopedic refs have the hyphenated Backer-Grøndahl. Her son was Fridtjof Backer-Grøndahl. Any objections to moving it to Agathe Backer-Grøndahl? -- JackofOz (talk) 05:29, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

Yes. When I changed the name in the article I sourced the change (no hyphen) with her biography,

• Dahm, Cecilie (1998). Agathe Backer Grøndahl: komponisten og pianisten. Oslo: Solum. ISBN 8256011521. {{cite book}}: Cite has empty unknown parameter: |side= (help) (This book is digitally readable and searchable for Norwegian IP-adresses). The biography is 255 pages, comprehensive and both the author and the publisher are reliable. I consider this a very reliable source.

- In addition all Norwegian libraries catalogue her as: Grøndahl, Agathe Backer. Which means Norwegian libraries consider her last name to be Grøndahl and her first names Agathe Backer, link to library catalogue.

- I have also consulted the ad which anounced her death here "Aftenposten 1907.06.06". Norge;Oslo. p. 3. and an obituary "Fredriksstad Tilskuer 1907.06.05". Norge;Østfold;Fredrikstad;. p. 2.{{cite web}}: CS1 maint: extra punctuation (link). None of these sources uses a hyphen. (These newspapers are digitally available from Norwegian libraries).

- Other sources for the article also writes her name without a hyphen.

- The biography does however write her sons name with a hyphen. I was not able to find a discussion about the difference between her name and her sons names. At the time we did not have any law regulating names in Norway. We did not get an Act of Names till 1923.

- There are examples of her name being written with a hyphen, but since I have not found a reliable source discussing this phenomenon I have been obliged to consider it original research to write about this. Source in Biography section

Hi! As I was reading it, I noticed that there wasn't a citation at the end of the third paragraph in the Biography section. I believe at least a citation is needed for the part following the previous citation in that paragraph, if someone is able to provide one. Best, Hoyalzrs (talk) 05:19, 7 February 2017 (UTC)
