Looks like a face?

Are you sure this shape has anything to do with human face? I can't see a face there. I think any resemblance to a human face is due to pareidolia, and unintended by authors. If it was intended, a face would be much better visible. Grzes 11:29, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

Singer

David Paich does sing the song, it's listed in the album credits. I don't know where someone got the idea that Kimball sang the choruses, I believe he sings them when they do it live, but not on the album. He does sing backing vocals. Someone had also listed at one time that Kimball sang Rosanna, I'm almost certain the Steve Porcaro sang that one. I have the album, I need to find it and read the credits on each song again. Is it David Paich singing lead vocals on this one? The guy singing in the video is playing keyboards in the video for "Rosanna," which would seem to fit Paich. It's clearly not Bobbie Kimball, who has to sit with the rest of the band and shake a maraca in the video. john k 17:25, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

Original research?

This following paragraph seems to be original research, so I have removed it from the article.

The outline on the single's cover art is a visual pun on the shape of the continent of Africa, and it resembles a silhouette of a human face. Notably the face can be identified as an example of the early human Australopithecus africanus.

Another song called "Africa", by Rose Laurens

French singer Rose Laurens had an international hit called "Africa", also in 1983. Possibly to avoid confusion with Toto's song, it is often referred to as "Africa (Voodoo Master)". --217.232.195.43 16:24, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Song meaning

UK Chart

That really does have to be reduced, a lot, like by 2/3, if kept as a quotation. In many jurisdictions it is likely too long to be fair use and is thus probably a copyright violation. South Park Cover - Popular culture reference

I was thinking maybe someone include the references made to this song in the new south park season. Also in the latest episode it featured a member berry cover made for the song, even an entire version which I found here: (Redacted) It could fit under popular culture I suppose.

Weezer

It looks like the Weezer cover has been added and deleted twice from this article. The last time it was sourced with an NPR and a CBS News story! Since it's charting in Billboard, it definitely seems notable for mention on this page, especially given it's unusual social media campaign to get it made. The Weezer cover does not merit a separate section, nor is it necessary to create a separate infobox for the version. It sounds exactly like the original and this version is no more unique than tens of other artists and formations. It has barely made it to the Billboard all important Hot 100. In any case, further relevant information, if any, can always be added in the Covers section, where the performance of Weezer is already adequately acknowledged. If more information is needed, please add it there in a lengthier paragraph. Or else, this will become an open invitation to add a handful of other charting versions with their own infoboxes and we will never finish. Leave the hit alone without diluting its impact by inclusion of ordinary covers that have been churned over many years by so many artists and acts. werldwayd (talk) 14:51, 1 August 2018 (UTC)
