Accidents At a notorious location near to the Llwyngwern camping site, Pantperthog, Machynlleth, two people have died in the past two years due to falling in the deep water which can reach up to 30ft deep. The first being a drunk holiday maker who had visited to apply for a job in the nearby Centre for alternative technology. The second person who died was a father from Birkenhead on the wirral peninsula. He attempted to save his young daughter when she got into diffiulty after saving a dog. The river still remains unguarded although talks of improving safety measures are underway. The water is fast flowing and icy. The rocks are also slippy under the surface, these factors are believed to have caused the deaths of the two men, one who once represented Merseyside for his swimming abilities.
