Copyright problem edit

Gen. Quon writes as edit summary when removing the CorenSearchBot tag: "The OVGuide page blatantly copies content from the Adventure Time (season 4) wiki page, so it's not a copyright vio". However, the content here is not present on adventuretime.wikia.com, and was very obviously copied from somewhere (the longest identical passage identified by the Duplicate Detector is "the adventures of finn a human boy and his best friend and adoptive brother jake a dog with magical powers to change shape and grow and shrink at will finn and jake live in the post apocalyptic land of ooo along the way they interact with the other main characters of the show princess bubblegum the ice king and marceline the vampire queen" – that cannot be a coincidence). Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 23:03, 31 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

When I wrote "wiki page", I meant this wiki page, (not the wikia... try this). The quote text that is supposedly a copyright infringement is prose that I wrote a long time ago. OVGuide is taking from Wikipedia, not the other way around (just compare what OVGuide has, to what the season four article lede has. It's identical. I can dig through the edits to show you that I did it first, but do we have to?).--Gen. Quon (Talk) 23:11, 31 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
Also, OVGuide is listed a a Wikipedia mirror site here.--Gen. Quon (Talk) 23:22, 31 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Miniseries edit

The eight "Stakes" episodes is the wholeminiseries. You should point that.

--202.4.56.90 (talk) 20:58, 23 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

To be fair, we don't really know that yet. Although it's a fairly good guess. We've been told there will be an 8-part miniseries, and there's apparently an 8-parter, but I'd like to wait until we are absolutely certain that the two are one and the same.--Gen. Quon (Talk) 19:39, 8 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Sow, Do You like Them Apples edit

"Sow, Do You like Them Apples" is an upcoming short of miniseries in the season 7 of Adventure Time.

From what Adam Muto said on his Spring.me and/or ask.fm (I can't remember which), it's not part of the miniseries, but rather a digital short or something like that. We don't have any other info at the time, but it's probably not going to air as a season seven episode.--Gen. Quon (Talk) 21:48, 23 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

"Stakes" and season seven edit

I just want to point out that Stakes is going to air as part of season seven. Adam Muto confirmed this on Spring.me a long time ago (here's an archived link).--Gen. Quon (Talk) 02:16, 2 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Here's another source, from Muto again. I think this is as explicit as it can get.--Gen. Quon (Talk) 17:40, 2 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Is "Stakes" really a miniseries? edit

Gen. Quon and interested parties: I'm starting my copyedit of the article, and I'd like some feedback on this. I really don't care for this so-called "miniseries". "Stakes" is part of the regular season, fitting right in with the other episode production numbers, in the same timeslot, with the same cast. It doesn't even qualify as a "limited series". Neither is it like the four films which were repackaged as Futurama season 5. It's just a multi-episode story arc. I realize it was promoted as a miniseries, but it doesn't seem to fit the definition of the word, and I feel it'd be confusing to the reader. I'm tending toward changing the way it's written. I'd be interested in hearing any thoughts about this. – Reidgreg (talk) 20:41, 20 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Something happened when The X-Files (season 10) was first released. It was being billed as a miniseries by the network (at least... until most sources started to bill it as a season). Anyway, we just went with how the network described it. I think the same thing should apply here. With Stakes, the network calls it a miniseries (note: ID as such is in article), the staff calls it a miniseries, and the DVD is sold as a "miniseries". The same thing is true for Islands and Elements.--Gen. Quon (Talk) 20:51, 20 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
With all this said, I'm not married to the term, I just think we should use the term that the sources use. (Also, thank you for the copy-edit!)--Gen. Quon (Talk) 20:54, 20 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

June 2017 copyedit edit

I've gone through the article and then went back over the recent GA assessment and tried to address the points you hadn't already. I haven't watched the episodes myself, so you might want to read through the episode summaries to check for mistakes. My notes:

  • Regarding the use of "miniseries", I feel it's confusing to describe it as a miniseries within a regular season. Because this is a season article, I described it as a multi-episode story-arc but note that it was presented/promoted as a miniseries in its original broadcast (eg: the "bomb week" which ran all 8 episodes in 4 days).
  • I got rid of the italic Stakes from episode titles. If the title of an artwork contains the title of another artwork, it does not get additional markup. The song "Mona Lisa" may take its name from the painting Mona Lisa but it would be confusing to call it "Mona Lisa". I also got rid of the overlinking: linking to the miniseries on first occurrence in the table is enough, linking all eight is redundant.
  • The series is based on a short... removed; I think that fits more in the main article or a first season article rather than a seventh season article.
  • Originally, season seven was composed of thirty-nine episodes. From the look of the note following this, this may constitute original research. It'd be good if a source were cited for this.
  • This episode count was cemented by the release of the complete seventh season DVD on July 18, 2017. There's a bit of WP:CRYSTAL here where it's talking about something that hasn't happened yet. It's less than a month away, though, so this may not be worth fussing over. (I don't want to rephrase it when it'll have to be changed back in three weeks.)
  • There have been some changes to MOS:TV in the past few months. Among the changes, it is discouraged to make parenthetical casting notes in plot summaries. (This is felt to be a redundancy with the cast/casting section, and part of a general move to separate the fiction and real-world information and keep plot summaries short.)
  • In episode 21, I'm not really sure who or what Gunter is, so that summary should be checked.
  • I don't know what the "Enchiridion" is; I don't suppose it's terribly important to the summary to really explain it, though.
  • I like to use the word "include" to introduce incomplete lists of examples. So with the inline list of storyboard artists in the production section, if that is a complete list, you could replace "included" with "were" or something else that is more definite.

Incidentally, I think this is the first article I've copyedited that didn't need MOS fixes. (Well, there was a tiny bit at two C's, nine B's, and seven A'sMOS#Plural and possessive forms discourages using apostrophes for plurals of numbers, letters or acronyms.) I'm not a reviewer, but it looks good to me! Good work! – Reidgreg (talk) 22:42, 21 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thank you so much for this copy-edit. I truly believe that your edits and comments have made this a stronger article overall (As for the apostrophes, I went with 'em initially because I thought A's looked better than As, but I understand otherwise).--Gen. Quon (Talk) 01:17, 22 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
You're welcome! Those apostrophes are really just a matter of style. A minority of style guides do allow them, and I used to use them before I came to Wikipedia. But Wikipedia's MOS doesn't want to cause confusion with possessives, and I believe it's also an issue with machine-translators. (Apostrophe-related typos are a niche area I got involved in with the Typo Team, so I'm usually quick to spot them.) – Reidgreg (talk) 11:58, 22 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
That's really useful to know, and thanks for the heads-up. Also, I'm very intrigued by Typo Team...--Gen. Quon (Talk) 13:18, 22 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

GA Review edit

Will review over my Thanksgiving break.

Note: A little out of my comfort zone. I don't usually edit these type of articles.

Production edit

  • There is a place that says "though" rather than "through", I believe the latter is what you mean.
    Good catch! Done.--Gen. Quon (Talk)
  • Link storyboarding to storyboard, for those unfamiliar with the concept
    A link has been added.--Gen. Quon (Talk) 14:56, 27 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • You don't need to identify all the titles for those episodes that ended up in season 8. What I would like, however, is the number of episodes originally for season 7 that were excluded and added to the next season.
I've done both; in regards to the former, I added it to a note that is easily accessible, but also not out in the open, and in regards to the latter, I've added it right into the section.--Gen. Quon (Talk) 15:01, 27 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • "Ristaino, Andy [skronked]." Please define "skronked".
That's his 'username' on Spring.me. A similar field is used when IDing Twitter posts.--Gen. Quon (Talk) 14:56, 27 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Section looks great. No complaints other than these few.

Will look at the next one later today.

Cast edit

  • 'Include' or 'included' in the first sentence? I honestly don't know the answer to this so let me know what you think.
I went with "included" since production has wrapped up.--Gen. Quon (Talk) 15:22, 8 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Should there be a comma between 'elephant' and 'Tree Trunks'?
    Good catch.--Gen. Quon (Talk) 15:22, 8 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Is it 'the Fire Kingdom' or just 'Fire Kingdom'? I seem to remember it without 'the', but my memory may be faulty.
I think it can be both. Elsewhere I've just gone with "the fire Kingdom".--Gen. Quon (Talk) 15:22, 8 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Broadcast/Reception edit

  • 'The second week-long string of episodes occurred ran' makes no sense.
    I tried to clean this section up a bit.--Gen. Quon (Talk) 15:25, 8 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • The reviews seem short - are you certain there's nothing you can add on the linked episodes, at least?
It is rather skimpy. I cover Stakes (which makes up about 1/4 of the season) and note that "Bad Jubies" and "Hall of Egress" were nominated for/won Emmys. Other than that, the critical reception has been kinda slim.--Gen. Quon (Talk) 15:25, 8 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

The rest looks good at a first glance. I don't watch the show often anymore, so I don't know if anything should be changed in there.

Looks good! dannymusiceditor Speak up! 04:16, 8 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Semi-protected edit request on 5 September 2018 edit

Please change the episode list to the correct seasons and episodes. To be more specific, from the episode "Two Swords", which you have listed as episode 14 of season 8, is the actual beginning of season 8. This can be proved by how in the Adventure Time Wikia, all the episode are different to the episode that you have listed on this Wikipedia page. SwedishDogg1111 (talk) 15:47, 5 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

This is extensively covered in the episode's footnotes. We're using Cartoon Network's official numbering/divisions.--Gen. Quon (Talk) 16:12, 5 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
