Talk:Advance Passenger Information System

Latest comment: 7 years ago by InternetArchiveBot in topic External links modified

So, this is just about flying to the USA, not about taking commercial flights in general. It certainly looks that way, from the requirement for a US address. If this is so, the article should make it clear, as there's lots of air travel in the world that doesn't go to the USA, which this system will not apply to.

Just making this clearer, APIS data is required to travel to Canada, USA and other countries. However, the address of the first night spent in the country is only a requirement when travelling to the US. Do not confuse with APP which is used for Australia. Source:British Airways Check-In. • Removed unprovable claims:

"APIS enhances border security by providing officers with pre-arrival and departure manifest data on all passengers and crew members." This is an unsubstantiated and likely completely unprovable claim. The only kind of Reliable Verifiable Source that might prove it, is the kind of national security document that won't be declassified for another twenty years. It is also heavily biased. Anyone who wishes to put it back should make it clear this is an intention, not a fact, and should balance it with the extra inconvenience for passengers.ANTIcarrot (talk) 15:00, 10 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
