Town or village? edit

Is it a town or village? Needs clarity DragonofBatley (talk) 15:58, 12 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

The Town Council aren't clear: they call it a village. Possibly "a village with town status"? PamD 07:33, 13 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
It's referred to as a village within the town of Chorley:

One article in a travel article referring to it as a village does not weigh as heavily against the town council referring to itself as a town council, though as highlighted above it's not entirely clear. Perhaps PamD's suggestion could be applied. I have no skin in the game but this really needs to be communicated rather than repeatedly reverting over and over; I've restored the status quo version until this. ser! Completely agree, it's not clear but is referred to as a village in many articles. "Town council" just means it has an elected mayor for the area but it is still a parish council and does not necessarily mean the the settlement is classed as a town. The council possibly decided to use the name town council instead of parish council as Adlington used to be separated as two villages but this has now been joined together along with Anderton to form the one area. The town council do refer to it as a village. Mattmetallica (talk) 18:47, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Seems like a fair explanation, thanks for providing this source. We can now see if DragonofBatley would like to respond. ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 19:30, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
The Town Council quite clearly refers to it as a village (see the "About" ref), and I think we should accept their usage. PamD 23:23, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I agree, the page was reverted again by DragonofBatley with no discussion. I have reverted it back to village. Mattmetallica (talk) 07:48, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
