"Exclusive" edit

I propose substitution of "private" for "exclusive" in the first line, and deletion of "elite". See comment at Category talk: Traditional gentlemen's clubs 45ossington 16:21, 27 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have replaced "exclusive", as it is used here as a descriptor rather than the commonly seen vague peacock term. The Adelaide Club still practices black balling; they are most certainly "exclusive"--Yeti Hunter (talk) 13:06, 20 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Controversy section edit

Let's please keep the controversy section out. It's discouraged by WP policy and serves to turn this article into an anti-gentlemen's club rant. "Excluding women"? Gentlemen's Club should have been a clue. And anyone who actually read the article about Bensimon's rejection would be left in no doubt he was blackballed not because he's Jewish but because he's a social-climbing preener, who immediately proceeded to publicly trashtalk the club he tried to join, completely vindicating the existing members' reluctance.--122.125.32.165 (talk) 17:07, 28 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

I think that the controversy section should be kept. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.90.187.51 (talk) 01:41, 11 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
