Age? edit

The mayor is supposed to be 78 years old? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.176.180.0 (talk) 04:06, 9 March 2007 (UTC).Reply

Check the archives if this troubles you. mayoradamwest.com, FOX-owned, gives "September 19, 1928 (the birthday of the real Adam West)" as Mayor West's birthdate, so while it's not part of the show's known reality, that age is being retained. / edgarde 16:30, 9 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
How, exactly, do you go about concluding that a site with disclaimers on every page reading, "This is a fan site," "This site is not authorized by FOX or Family Guy," etc., is "FOX-owned"? I can see no justification for retaining either this information or the information that Mayor West is a Republican. Barring adequate citation, they both should go.205.212.74.243 07:53, 19 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Maybe you've given the site a better look than I have. WP:SOFIXIT / edgarde 14:59, 19 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
I run MayorAdamWest.com, and yes, his birthday as posted on the site is directly from wikipedia. The Mayors character is loosely based upon the real Adam West, thus i saw fit to assigning him that DOB until otherwise advised or noted. Wraithlabs 06:03, 19 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for letting us know where that come from.
If one has to make a presumption for Mayor West's age, that's probably the most reasonable way to do it. However, we cannot make that presumption here. For all we know, the writers will reveal his character's age next season, and it won't match the real life Adam West's age. / edg 06:09, 19 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I think we should just put him down as 80 years old. He is based on the real Adam West and is voiced by the real Adam West. I think it is simply implied that he is the age of the real Adam West.--Starbucks95905 (talk) 22:01, 10 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

You're forgetting that characters in most animated shows don't age, or at least not realistically. If anything, he's closer to 71 or 72—West's age when the series premiered. 68.14.133.151 (talk) 22:06, 18 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Republican? edit

Next question: how do we know he's a Republican? Is this mentioned in an episode, or are we just going by his natural corruption and idiot incompetence? If the former, can someone cite an episode (preferably with how many minutes in this is revealed). If the latter, this would also be original research, and must be removed. / edg 06:15, 19 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I also haven't seen any evidence of Mayor West being a member of the Republican Party (in fact, I doubt West is a member of any political party). The only thing that would suggest West is a Republican is that fact that Lois, a person of obvious liberal leanings, challenged West for the position of mayor. Of course, that still doesn't qualify as evidence, as liberal Republicans and conservative Democrats do exist, and persons of the same political party can compete against each other in an election. Even if he behaves or governs (if you can call what West does governing) like a Republican, that does not mean he is one. Unless someone has definitive evidence that Adam West is a Republican, the bit about him being a Republican should be removed. --Armaetin 22:54, 8 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Removed "Party" from infobox. Might keep it in if Lois were demonstrated to be a Democrat, but I don't think there's evidence of that either. Monster Raving Loony maybe? / edg 23:10, 8 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Citations edit

Someone apparently doesn't understand the difference between references and footnotes. Just sayin'. 69.109.127.123 06:02, 17 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Footnotes sections entitled References are the norm on Wikipedia. If you want to make an issue of this, you should take it to Wikipedia:Centralized discussion, not here. / edg 06:34, 17 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Citation format edit

I removed several references which were just brief anecdotes enclosed in <ref> ... </ref>, and a comment instructing editors to "use the <ref>...</ref>" that was obviously confusing some editors. I don't think we're going to be able to teach drive-bys how to add information in a useful format — a more sensible goal might be to fix/integrate/delete (as appropriate) their contributions as they come in.

Please see WikiProject Family Guy/Episode citation style for instructions on how to cite episodes. Note that primary sources alone are not adequate for this article — sources other than the show are needed, especially for any analysis. / edg 19:18, 4 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Dig Em edit

  • Dig em war memorial it wasnt gold plated but solid gold hence depleting the towns entire budget
    • It appears that the anonymous poster may be right. The Family Guy wikia refers to the statue as solid gold. Still, we could be right, and they could be wrong. 67.85.254.111 (talk) 04:52, 7 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
    • Gold is a very soft, heavy metal and would be impractical for use, in a pure form, for statues or buildings. Although, I've seen writers make this goof before. --The_Iconoclast (talk) 22:45, 9 April 2015 (UTC).Reply

The reference to council money is a Britishism that seems out of place in this context; a re-wording may be in order. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.177.92.102 (talk) 02:04, 18 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Marriage edit

In one episode (fictional) Adam West tries to marry one of his hands. His right, I believe. When the minister asks if anyone objects, he raises his other hand. Then he beratedly says 'You had your chance' - NemFX (talk) 06:48, 23 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ya, I remember that. Grsz11 (talk) 17:24, 23 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Cats edit

Can we please add a section about his cat launcher —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.219.116.28 (talk) 10:51, 16 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's probably cats because of The Fairly Odd Parents in which he's Catman and has all the powers of a cat, which isn't very useful or helpful. In that show he's also incredibly stupid, unuseful and unhelpful. So I think that's probably why. 68.39.79.161 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 23:13, 18 November 2009 (UTC).Reply

Mayor Adam West is officially dead edit

In the season 17 finale, it's stated by Lois' sister Carol that Mayor West has died and James Woods High School has been renamed to Adam West High School in his honor. Spartan198 (talk) 04:08, 13 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
