WP:FILMPLOT word count limit of 700

edit

Updated WP:FILMPLOT word count limit of 700 words blurb: “ As of June 2018, we are at 757 words excluding titles of sections and the introduction added, a special scenario for this film. Please discuss major suggested revisions on talk page.”

We’re pretty close to 700. Because of the complexity and the depth of emotions in line with Tyler Perry’s films, where drama is the main genre, such as Why Did I Get Married?, The Family That Preys, and I Can Do Bad All By Myself, that all follow similar expositions, also each have long plot word counts. My suggestion for Acrimony would be to only trim wording if it will not sacrifice content or striving to get much less than 700 words, where as, a full 700 words appear to reasonable goal.

I edited it under 700 words, and then all my revisions were undone. This plot summary could easily be under the limit. There is a lot of excess detail that can be trimmed while keeping the core plot intact. Devon and the sisters could be cut completely, for example. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.102.71.136 (talk) 00:18, 11 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

The sisters play an important part in the story. This is a very detailed kind of film with with characters, symbolism, in depth, ect. I referenced several works by Tyler Perry above, follow similar expansion. Yes, I did see that you cut it to 450. Is there a reason you feel it’s important to have that short? I don’t believe the goal of WP:FILMPLOT is to write a summary for the back of the DVD box cover. The summary wasn't "for the back of the DVD box cover," it was a focused rundown of the film's plot. The sisters might be prominent characters, but they're not actually necessary for the plot summary. Only Robert, Melinda, Diana, and Prescott are. Acrimony really isn't "a very detailed kind of film with characters, symbolism, in depth, etc.," it's a mediocre thriller. Right now the plot summary reads like a fan wiki where everything is detailed. That's not the style of a Wikipedia article, which is much more targeted. For example, specifying that "the music of Nina Simone is played throughout, a shared favorite of the couple" is completely unnecessary to the Plot Summary section because it's not integral to understanding the plot. If the Wikipedia plot summaries for each The Lord of the Rings movie can fit under 700 words, there is absolutely no reason that Acrimony can't either. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.102.71.136 (talk) 22:31, 11 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
