Worth a mention yet? Hcobb (talk) 14:12, 11 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

No, that's a very minor incident. Other similar incidents have been removed from this article for the same reason. -Fnlayson (talk) 15:33, 11 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

C'mon! edit

This article states: "In January 2013 a bucket fell from a V-22 Osprey while it flew over San Diego, California. It fell on a motor repair shop causing minor damage." How is this significant? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.158.48.11 (talk) 18:36, 10 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Whittle book - Appropriateness as Recommended Reference? edit

I'm specifically referring to "Whittle, Richard. The Dream Machine: The Untold History of the Notorious V-22 Osprey" Giving a quick look at the book, it really doesn't seem to be an unbiased reference. It doesn't seem to be a very credible source. Considering that it isn't specifically referenced and is instead added, presumably, as recommended reading for more information, wouldn't it make sense to get rid of it? I'm not about to change it as I'm not entirely sure about Wikipedia policy on the matter and I really don't know if there's better information somewhere on the credibility of the book. If anyone is able to chime in, it'd be appreciated. Striker121 (talk) 04:19, 10 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

That book is referenced via shorten footnotes. So it can't be simply removed. It surely meets Wikipedia's Reliable Source requirements, which also says sources themselves do not have to be neutral. -Fnlayson (talk) 17:03, 10 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

May 2015 incident edit

I moved the May 2015 incident section to major incidents. I hope it was acceptable given the fatalities. Also there were two Dec 2016 incidents on same night. I separated them with (major) and (minor). Johnvr4 (talk) 19:37, 14 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Osprey crashed off Okinawa December 2016 edit

Many of the press organizations in Japan and Europe and the United States report the Okinawa accident of Osprey as "crash", is not it wrong to write it as "crash-lands"? (2016-12-13) It seems correct to write both "crash" and "crash-lands". In addition, the opposition against the Osprey accident this time in Okinawa is fierce.[1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by SparkTroy (talkcontribs) 14:01, 14 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

More Hull loss / written off edit

There are some more Hull losses: Initial accident news don't cover some. Its sure and important: See several databases:

https://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/dblist.php?AcType=V22

http://www.g2mil.com/V-22Amishaps.htm

https://www.helis.com/database/model/261/cn

Best is to follow the serial number after the damage of the accident is carefully reviewed to recognize a hull loss. 217.250.166.116 (talk) 07:05, 12 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Consistency of numbers needs to be throughout all related articles like this one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bell_Boeing_V-22_Osprey — Preceding unsigned comment added by 139.218.233.166 (talk) 05:22, 29 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

April 2021 Incident edit

Already add on main page. - Also already has a label attached questioning importance. I Watched the Video. I wonder if a H-53 would have also destroyed it. It Looked like a nothing but a grass area with the metal strips on it. (Thinks a World War II hasty airfield in the Pacific). my half cent. Wfoj3 (talk) 21:39, 7 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

The description is vague and the incident seems minor. Wikipedia is not a news service. -Fnlayson (talk) 22:19, 7 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
It was front page news in the UK. Destroying the helipad of a major hospital is a significant amount of damage. Just because it didn't happen to a hospital in the US, doesn't mean it isn't important. 2.31.37.236 (talk) 12:18, 27 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Location has no bearing on whether this is a notable aviation incident or not. -Fnlayson (talk) 15:40, 27 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Description seems suitably specific and in line with other incidents, and I agree with 2.31.37.236 that it's a fairly serious incident given where it happened. --TheTacticalPanda (talk) 23:07, 7 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

March 30, 2022 misreported incident near Virginia (actually E-2D Hawkeye) edit

On March 30, 2022, there was an incident involving a U.S. Navy plane near Virginia that resulted in 1 death, 2 rescued. This incident was initially misreported as a V-22 Osprey. It was later updated to be an E-2D Hawkeye.

The originally cited reference (960theref.com) wrote, "According to the Shore Daily News, the V-22 Osprey aircraft crashed north of the Chincoteague Causeway at 7:32 p.m. EDT." https://www.960theref.com/news/trending/navy-plane-crashes-near-virginia-maryland-coastal-border-officials-say/SO46SUUFUNFYNAV3JNU6FSWA4A/

However, the Shore Daily News article that was referenced in the original citation (960theref.com) was later updated to be an E-2D Hawkeye. "One sailor died and two others were injured Wednesday night when a Navy E-2D Hawkeye aircraft crashed off the coast of Virginia." https://shoredailynews.com/headlines/one-dead-two-rescued-in-navy-ed-2-crash-north-of-chincoteague/

Another more reputable source (www.navy.mil) wrote, "A Navy E-2D Hawkeye assigned to an East Coast Airborne Command and Control Squadron (VAW) crashed in the vicinity of Wallops Island and Chincoteague, Va., March 30. One crew member has died and two have been injured. The E-2D crashed at approximately 7:30 p.m." https://www.navy.mil/Press-Office/News-Stories/Article/2983652/norfolk-based-e-2-hawkeye-crashes-two-injured-one-fatality/
