Fair use rationale for Image:SMB abracadabra single cover.jpg edit

Image:SMB abracadabra single cover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 09:52, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Music video edit

There should be something about the music video, but I don't know how to summarize it in a few words. (Black panties do not appear in the video...) AnonMoos (talk) 13:26, 12 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Music video edit

I’m sorry but the the description of the music video reads awful. It’s like an essay, full of opinions stated as facts with no citations. Is this a joke? Paige Matheson (talk) 02:18, 31 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Paige Matheson: I thought exactly the same thing, and came here to ask whether the content should be removed completely.
The claim that "the video is one of the most iconic music videos of all time" is utter puffery. While the song was pretty successful at the time I don't recall anyone ever making a big deal about the video, let alone it being up there with the best.
And "Abracadabra is the first music video to use special effects"? Seriously?! Aside from the fact it's uncited, there were numerous videos using "special effects" before this, including the hugely famous ones in "Bohemian Rhapsody" a whole seven years prior.
This article talks as if 1982 was really early days for music videos, but MTV was already established and this song came out at almost exactly the same time as (e.g.) Duran Duran's "Hungry Like the Wolf", and only a few months before Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean".
The section is also ludicrously bloated and includes POV commentary and original research.
Most of the content was added in this set of edits by two anonymous IPs (most likely the same user).
I had been swithering whether or not the edits should be left in, but I can't see anyone else coming along to edit it.
This is fundamentally flawed. Once the puffery, incorrect claims, original research, POV and pointlessly excessive detail have been addressed, there's only a small amount of (possibly) useful info left, and that's uncited anyway. As a result, I've reverted that section to the pre-6 November 2019 version.

Ubcule, I agree with everything you wrote above. Paige Matheson (talk) 00:10, 25 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
