Where are the facts? edit

The only facts to this article are:

  • CallVantage is a VOIP service offered by AT&T.
  • AT&T no longer offers this service to new customers.

There is no background information as to how the service works, what equipment AT&T provides, when the service was launched, when & why AT&T ceased adding new customers, etc. The service is still active. As a user I was unaware that AT&T no longer offers this service to new customers.

It is true that this article has a lack of information on it's service. If you wish to nominate it for deletion, go ahead, but it will probably be kept because it is a service by the greatly notable AT&T. -- ErnestVoice (User) (Talk) 14:37, 12 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Deceptive statement edit

The phrase "CallVantage was offered as an option with AT&T Yahoo! DSL service, formerly known as SBC Yahoo! DSL." implies that this was the only way the service was offered. I was able to order the service as a standalone.

If you can dispute this statement, please find a 3rd party reference to back up that claim and then make a entry into the article itself. -- ErnestVoice (User) (Talk) 14:37, 12 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Reference cleanup edit

The first 2 reference links now point to the same AT&T page containing the following message:

Thank you for your interest in AT&T CallVantage® service. Currently we are not accepting new orders for AT&T CallVantage service. We will continue to evaluate our AT&T CallVantage service and remain committed to providing leading, next generation voice services for today's consumer and business customers. For information on other AT&T products and service please visit www.att.com

Aggreed, removed the least relevant link. -- ErnestVoice (User) (Talk) 14:37, 12 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

The third link is unrelated to the article. All 3 do not support the content of the article.

I disagree, the last link is directed to an article that discusses the 'shutdown' of CallVantage in relation to a theory of slowdown in VoIP consumer growth. This is, at least in part, relevant to the article. -- ErnestVoice (User) (Talk) 14:37, 12 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hmm, when I click on reference 3, both at home & at work I get an ad. However, from home I can back click & see the referenced article. The article referenced is opinionated, which does raise an eyebrow to it's factual content.

I was at work when I opened this discussion. The modem I use with the CallVantage service is a Dlink model DVG-5102S. I do not know if other subcribersw have different modems or not. The monthly service fee is $24.99 but since I am also a U-verse subscriber I recieve a $5/month discount. The billing is seperate for both services (1 bill for U-verse with internet bundle, 1 bill for CallVantage).```` —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.35.54.20 (talk) 23:53, 12 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
