I am the webmaster for the 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. I was making some corrections regarding the day of the April 4th, 2004 conflict in Sadr City, Baghdad, Iraq--giving credit to 1st U.S. Cavalry Bridage. It was actually the 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment who had assumed control of Camp War Eagle . The 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment reports to the 1st U.S. Cavalry Brigade but it was the 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment that did the most fighting in Sadr City, took most of the casualties, and sustained most the losses.

I have authority when posting my Battalion's Hisory granted to me by my Battalion commander. The history I wanted to post is verbatem written by our organization's historian. There is no copyright infringement on our part. I am a member of the organization of the 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment itself. Please allow us the use of our own material. The history that globalsecurity.org has posted is actually a verbatim of our history which can be found on our unit's webpage.

actually... when i went back and re-examined globalsecurity.org.. it looks like ... The history globalsecurity.org is using part of our current history and bits i can remember from others that have been revised over the last few years. Custer?

Even though Custer is listed in the "Commanders" section, he never commanded the 5th Cav. He took his commission into that regiment, and served for a short time, but he began his climb to fame as a staff officer and later with Michigan cavalry units. Should he be removed from this list?Intothatdarkness (talk) 15:04, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
