I lack the skills to do justice to the fictional insignia described in Holt's book. If anyone wants to try and do this feel free.Graham1973 (talk) 13:29, 7 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Needs more detailed inline citations/refs. Also, I'm confused by the Composition section; these appear to be real battalions? Where were they at this time? In what way were they part of this phantom division? Yorkist (talk) 03:15, 25 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

In answer to your question, creating a diversion division was not simply the matter of picking a division number and insignia. To create the most realistic impression, fictional divisions were covered down to the battalion level. Often to simplify the job real units, such as the 2nd Parachute Brigade in the 5th Airborne Division, the 4th Parachute Brigade (4th Airborne Division) and the 517th RCT (US 6th Airborne Division) were incorporated into the fictitious units. The British took this sort of thing much further than the Americans did, often having real troops act the roles of members of fictitious units hence the 'L Detachment SAS Brigade' which later became the real 1st SAS Regiment.Graham1973 (talk) 16:24, 25 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
