Current Unit Designation

While members of the unit like to refer to it as the “319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment” (AFAR) the reality is that terms such Airborne, Parachute, Glider, Armored, etc., ceased to be used with unit designations many decades ago. All field artillery regiments are simply called “xxx Field Artillery Regiment” regardless of being on jump status, etc. Here are the DA websites showing the changes in unit designations over the years that led to today’s designation of 319th Field Artillery Regiment:
