Nickname edit

The citation for the nickname lists both "The Walkie Talkie" and "The Pint", yet this second name was not in the article. When I added it, it was removed. Why? 85.159.85.2 (talk) 10:30, 11 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Two years ago, someone may have said it resembles a "Pint", but I am based near the building and have never, not even once, heard it be referred to as that. It is known almost universally as "the Walkie-Talkie" in both common usage and the press. --TBM10 (talk) 12:35, 11 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
So we should ignore the cited newspaper article in favour of your opinion? 85.159.85.2 (talk) 07:52, 12 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
It's not my opinion, it's fact. There are a hundred other citations we could use which universally and exclusively refer to it as the Walkie-Talkie. --TBM10 (talk) 12:45, 12 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
If anyone is calling it "The Pint", and the FT article does, then it is not "universally and exclusively" known as the walkie talkie so that is not a fact, it is an opinion. 85.159.85.2 (talk) 12:54, 12 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Artist's impression edit

Is there any reason I shouldn't upload this onto the main article? Everyone wants to know what it'll look like and they shouldn't have to google it. http://londonist.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/wtmain.jpg --RatnimSnave (talk) 16:21, 31 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

The artist's impression is totally different to the reality. It was only created to fool the planning approval dept. The sky garden shows trees sprouting up from the ground and a massive window. In reality there are a few shrubs in pots and the window view is obscured by the girders holding up the roof. QuentinUK (talk)

Is that 180 metres? [1]

Sun Reflection edit

There have been reports of the building reflecting and focusing sunlight onto cars and other things so intensely that they melt http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-23930675 and http://news.uk.msn.com/trending-blog/skyscraper-walkie-talkie-heat-ray-strikes-again/

I'm not familiar with the rules and conventions of editing wikipedia articles, would someone who is be willing to update the article to include mention of this?

It has been already. --TBM10 (talk) 12:38, 3 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

RFC: Fryscraper edit

Outside of architectural circles, this tower only made international news under "Fryscraper" so this is not "undue", it is what it is notable for internationally (ie. outside of UK). Therefore "Fryscraper" should exist (be mentioned) in this article. -- 70.24.244.158 (talk) 02:37, 7 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

'Fryscraper' has been used in headlines worldwide, eg:

Should be reinserted. -- Hillbillyholiday talk 02:57, 7 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

I would say appropriate to mention in the section on sun reflection along with "walkie scorchie", but not in the lead. Only time will tell which name stick and are used by the public at large.--User:Salix alba (talk): 08:39, 7 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Agree with Salix. --TBM10 (talk) 21:07, 7 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Agreed, definitely not the lede. A simple sentence in the appropriate section will do. -- Hillbillyholiday talk 21:57, 7 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Agreed. If the name "Fryscraper" is popularly appearing in the press it makes sense to mention it, which is done in the Criticisms section. Depending on the outcome of the complaints, etc., it may become relevant to add an indication of the problems to the lede, but I think the situation needs to play out further before adding too many more nicknames for the tower to the lede. -- Metheglyn (talk) 04:01, 20 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

wordy edit

I think I'm missing something, is this sentence correct? "Despite the top-down method of construction, the old building was not demolished from the bottom-up, as a temporary structure was built, allowing Keltbray, the demolition contractor, to demolish the building from the top down." File:The Sky Garden.jpg to appear as POTD soon edit

Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:The Sky Garden.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on May 20, 2018. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2018-05-20. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. — Chris Woodrich (talk) 06:13, 8 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

The Sky Garden is an interior roof garden that occupies the 34th to 37th floors of 20 Fenchurch Street, London. Called London's highest public park, it includes a large viewing area, terrace, bar and two restaurants. However, it has drawn criticism for its limited greenery.Photograph: Colin

Sky garden and storeys - article and picture caption are contradictory edit

The article says the building has 34 storeys, and the Sky Garden occupies the top three. The picture caption says the Sky Garden occupies 4 storeys, going up to the 37th. DuncanHill (talk) 11:22, 20 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

And the Sky Garden website says the building has 38 storeys.[1] DuncanHill (talk) 11:58, 20 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
