I agree to merge the two posts Lee Gok Da (talk) 15:22, 13 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
The other article should be merged into this one, which has existed for longer & has a better title. Jim Michael 2 (talk) 15:29, 13 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Jim Michael 2: I agree to merge the 2 articles together, but I do not agree to include the phrase "Cư Kuin" in the title. It is evident that this location name is not commonly known, and it is rarely mentioned in both Vietnam and international media in reference to this incident.Khangdora2809 (talk) 15:51, 13 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
I have two suggested options: "2023 Đắk Lắk shootings" and "2023 Đắk Lắk attacks".Khangdora2809 (talk) 15:54, 13 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
I moved this article before the other one was created because Cu Kuin is more precise, although if Dak Lak is much more well used then that's the common name. Certainly the previous title's Vietnam is far too broad a location to use. This included hostage taking, so shooting doesn't cover it all. Jim Michael 2 (talk) 16:24, 13 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Jim Michael 2:If you do not agree with the phrase "shootings," you can still use "2023 Đắk Lắk attacks." The title of an article should be concise, easily understandable, widely known, and accessible to many people. The location you mentioned may not be prominent for people to recognize. However, there are notable examples in the original article (in Vietnamese) that still use the phrase "Đắk Lắk." Moreover, international news outlets such as the South China Morning Post, BBC, RFI, as well as Vietnamese news sources like Tuổi Trẻ, Thanh Niên, and VTV, are also referring to "Đắk Lắk". I am currently in Vietnam, and I can confirm that people use the term "Đắk Lắk" to refer to this event more frequently. Khangdora2809 (talk) 16:51, 13 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
The WP articles have some substantial differences, the biggest of which is that this one states the death toll as 4, whereas the other one says 9. Jim Michael 2 (talk) 17:02, 13 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Merge I figured that both articles were covering the same topic. --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 18:14, 13 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
