Talk:2022 Auckland mayoral election

Opinion polling edit

I see that the opinion polling has been rewritten to include undecideds instead of excluding them. This goes against the standard way that political polls in New Zealand are reported.

I don't understand why that's been done. Local government elections almost always have a very low turnout. 50% not voting would actually be an improved turnout over recent years.

Using the actual poll results, rather than these modified versions would be much more sensible, IMHO. 49.224.122.239 (talk) 09:31, 24 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Images edit

Have reached out to every Auckland mayoral candidate bar Collins (who already has an image) and Morris (who's email I couldn't find) via email to ask if they'd be interested in contributing a free image to Commons that we could use on Wikipedia. Have so far recieved a response from Lord -- am going to turn the declared candidates list into a table with images momentarily. LivelyRatification (talk) 02:57, 27 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Have now contacted Morris (found his email). LivelyRatification (talk) 03:31, 27 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
I have been in contact with the Collins team and they provided File:Efeso Collins outdoor.jpeg, however I don't think that they have sent a declaration of consent to the Commons Volunteer Response Team or even confirmed the licence. I will follow up, as at the moment, we don't have clear permission to use the image under a Wikipedia-compatible licence. Adabow (talk) 06:38, 27 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Results map edit

The two results map files. The right one is currently in use (31 October)

Two maps have been produced showing the results of the election by local board area. The one currently in use (right) was added as it reflects candidates colours, although both Brown and Collins ran as independents. The Wikimedia Design Style Guide recommends blue, yellow, green and red as accent colours, and in my opinion the grey does not contrast very well. In some of the darker shades it looks like it could be a very dark blue at first glance. I would prefer a selection of colours with greater contrast, such as red and blue (but open to alternatives).
