Bloody Sunday (2021) → 2021 Calabarzon raids – As per WP:NPOV. This is a more neutral and accurate way to the describe the series of police/military operations. Also most WP:RS uses "Calabarzon raids" to refer to the incident and if Bloody Sunday ever does mentioned in headlines it is usually enclosed in scare quotes (like 'Bloody Sunday') Hariboneagle927 (talk) 22:22, 11 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
- I agree with the need to maintain NPOV, but we might be sacrificing precision with "raids." Might we retain the original title? Or perhaps we could find an alternative that references the killings considering that the deaths are what make the raids notable? I believe that significant news coverage situates the killings in the context of either drug war deaths or suspected politically motivated killings, so maybe the title should give a sense of this. I do have a question on the quotation marks, which I understand in this case might have been used for attribution: Considering the term "Bloody Sunday" is sometimes attributed to human rights organizations or members of the opposition, is that by definition non-NPOV? - I concur with Crisantom that the killings need to be mentioned in the topic. If another topic is chosen, it should have the word "killings," but I think this title is acceptable. - The use of quotation marks by media outlets from what I understand is an acknowledgement of the term as non-neutral or favoring a certain POV; and they are merely repeating the term used by the opposition for this appalling incident. I believe though that "raids" may be more precise, since it portrays the actual nature of the operations; it's just the outcome of the raids (also the conduct as well) were subject to controversy. "Bloody Sunday" is imprecise in my opinion, although it may suggest an event that saw many deaths; at the end of the day it is still a euphemism. A title called "2021 Calabarzon killings" or "2021 Calabarzon massacre" for example would also downplay the fact that the law enforcement used a legal pretext to enforce the raids.Hariboneagle927 (talk) 05:03, 12 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
