New year, new Rohingya persecution in Myanmar article? edit

Given events are not calming down, does it not see appropriate to begin thinking about the "2018 Rohingya persecution in Myanmar" article? C. W. Gilmore (talk) 01:07, 15 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

How to handle mass graves? edit

Should the new information regarding mass graves be included in the 'killing' sub-section or should it be placed into a separate sub-section of it's own? Any ideas? C. W. Gilmore (talk) 01:10, 15 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

USA response edit

There is a 28 October 2017 interview with US Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois discusses the Rohingya refugee crisis and his efforts to shape policy in the US Capital. [1] Should this be included? C. W. Gilmore (talk) 14:41, 15 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Shouldn't the title be altered? edit

The overwhelming majority of international agencies, human rights groups, governments, and experts involved with this issue have characterized the crisis as ethnic cleansing and/or genocide. These accusations are detailed in a multitude of citations in the wiki. Therefore, shouldn't the title of the wiki be changed at least to "2017 ethnic cleansing of the Rohingya in Myanmar"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Christoph Bremmer (talkcontribs) 21:30, 10 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Article title change proposal edit

As Christoph Bremmer noted in April, the majority of intl. agencies/rights groups/governments/etc. have characterized this as ethnic cleansing and/or genocide. Additionally, the U.N. is now calling for genocide charges against the Myanmar military. It is fair to say that the crisis is widely accepted as being a genocide, and thus the article name is in definite need of changing, IMO. Here are some possible names we could move the article to:

  • 2017-2018 Rohingya genocide
  • Rohingya genocide
  • 2017-2018 genocide of the Rohingya

If anyone disagrees, or thinks the article title should be changed to something I haven't listed, please say so. If you agree that the article should be moved to one of the potential titles I listed, I'd be interested to hear which one you think would be best to use. If there are no responses to this within the next few days or so, I'm gonna go ahead and WP:BeBold and move this article to "2017-2018 Rohingya genocide" myself. Thanks! Name edit

Why is there a need to specify the date "2017-present"? The article on the Rwandan genocide isn't called the "1994 Rwandan genocide", nor is the Cambodian genocide called the "1975-1979 Cambodian genocide". This genocide is almost universally known as the Rohingya genocide 78.108.56.35 (talk) 19:44, 16 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
