Major Cities? edit

I expect that this question will come up several times: "Which places are considered Major Cities in Ontario for this article?"

I suggest that this article only list in the "major cities" section those municipalities with populations greater than 200,000 in the 2006 census. See: List of the 100 largest municipalities in Canada by population. For most purposes, lists of populations of metropolitan areas or urban areas are much more useful to determine which cities are biggest, but since this article is about the municipal elections, then I think that we definitely only want to consider the population of the municipalities themselves, not their surrounding areas.

Why 200,000? Simply because it is a cutoff that keeps the list at a nice manageable number (those municipalities with populations over 200,000 happen to be the top-ten most populous) and because there are not municipalities that are very close to 200,000 without quite making it.

  1. Toronto
  2. Ottawa
  3. Mississauga
  4. Hamilton
  5. Brampton
  6. London
  7. Markham
  8. Vaughan
  9. Windsor
  10. Kitchener

Municipalities with no information on the internet edit

The following municipalities I could not find a list of candidates for mayor/reeve anywhere on the internet. If you know the candidates, please add them to their respective pages. -- Earl Andrew - talk 01:03, 17 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Some help edit

Some municipalities have provided their results using software that I can't read properly. My screen is too small for their pages to fit properly. I'm going to list the municipalities here, and hopefully someone can input their results for me. -- Earl Andrew - talk 14:10, 26 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Done! (For the mayoral contests, at least.)
