GA Review edit

Pretty good article. I have a few comments:

  • A reference for "Iran's earthquake history reaches as far back as 856 AD, and involves at least 29 documented earthquakes," would be nice.
  • "...damage from Iranian earthquakes has extended well beyond the country's borders." More information or a source would be nice.
  • Any chance you can get a picture of the damage in Bandar Abbas (or any damage)? It might give some perspective.

Those are just a few comments I have before passing it. Otherwise, pretty good article.

I don't believe I could find any damage photoa; I'll do my best to dig for some. I think I've resolved your comments. ceranthor 22:41, 11 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Merge edit

I created 2008 Qeshm earthquake, having somehow failed to find this one. The content there should be merged here, although I'm a bit unsure which is the best name, as the recalculated epicenter is on Qeshm island and all the deaths happened there. 2008 Bandar Abbas earthquake2008 Qeshm earthquake – "According to the BBC, fatalities from the tremor were limited to Qeshm Island". That makes sense. The ShakeMap shows that the most intense shaking was on Qeshm. The city of Bandar Abbas experienced light to moderate shaking and was "almost unscathed". Support - a quick look at Google Scholar suggest that 2008 Qeshm is the commonly used term, at least amongst seismologists. Mikenorton (talk) 19:39, 28 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
