Results format edit

Box scores should be sufficient enough for this article, as it shall give only a general overview about the topic. A game-by-game listing, especially in the suggested format, would make the article very long and confusing. Finally, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a news agency. However, you are invited to add the game-by-game information on Wikinews (see above). Hockey-holic (talk) 16:49, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Map alternative edit

Location of teams in Scottish Premier League 2008–09

Since Scotland is not an island, I have created an alternative map based on the Location map template as seen on the right. Use it if you like it, or nix it if you don't like it. --Hockey-holic (talk) 02:56, 12 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Note: the base picture of the Location map template got reverted to the old version, so the current look was out of my control... Soccer-holic (talk) 02:38, 14 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Falkirk in Europa League play-off round? edit

Are we sure that Falkirk will be entered into the Europa League play-off spot even if they lose the Final? In the past, if the losing finalist went into Europe, they were put below the league teams - which would mean that the Play-off round place would go to Hearts in 3rd. 86.131.237.120 (talk) 16:34, 16 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Aditional - There is a reference note on the Europa League page that says "Falkirk have qualified as losing Scottish Cup finalists at least. If they win the final they will enter in the Playoff round, Hearts in the 3rd qualifying round and the 4th placed team (Dundee Utd or Aberdeen) in the 2nd qualifying round. If they lose the final they will enter in the 2nd qualifying round, Hearts will enter in the Playoff round and the 4th placed team of the league will enter in the 3rd qualifying round." - so either way, something needs to be changed. 86.131.237.120 (talk) 16:37, 16 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
I guess the problem has partly something to do with the fb r template, which can hold the qualification for one competition only. In the rare case that a domestic cup winner also qualifies for another competition, a custom row has to be built. To cut a long story short - take a look at Fußball-Bundesliga 1995–96. 1. FC Kaiserslautern were relegated in that year, only to win the German Cup one week later. The background color for demotion was chosen since the relegation was a bigger event for the club than the participation in a European competition. As for Falkirk, a similar solution might just be what is needed here. --Soccer-holicI hear voices in my head... 16:57, 16 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
The problem isn't the colour in the template - it's the note below the table that says "Falkirk qualified for the playoff round of the UEFA Europa League 2009–10, as finalists of the 2008–09 Scottish Cup." - which is in conflict with the quote from the Europa League pages reference (quoted above). So I'm asking which of these is correct. 86.131.237.120 (talk) 17:06, 16 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
David Taylor was on Radio Scotland the other night explaining this. He said that Falkirk will go into the fourth qr if they win the Scottish Cup, but will only go in the third qr if they lose the final. The fourth place team will go in the second qr and the fair play team will go in the first qr irrespective. Jmorrison230582 (talk) 18:55, 16 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Question about and colour proposal for fourth UEL participant edit

Are there any news on which team will enter the Europa League via the Fair Play competition? This SPL subpage indicates that the team with the lowest cards record might enter, but no word on any definite candidates yet.

In any case - since we have the rare case of teams entering Europa League in four different rounds (usually it's not more than three different rounds), how about using #DDFDFF as the fourth colour (if Falkirk manage to stay in the SPL, of course, otherwise the three standard colours will do)?

It's most likely Motherwell, they were said to be leading the table a couple of weeks ago, and have only had about three yellow cards in their last two games. There's also a media report that Airdrie's ground has been booked for the tie because Fir Park is being ripped up over the summer. Jmorrison230582 (talk) 15:46, 21 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
