Map edit

A map of the affected area would be great, if anyone knows of one. I couldn't find anything. CoolGuy 04:58, 14 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Tense edit

This article is about what happened in July, but in September it still has events discussed in present tense ("The other half are still in the dark ") and events in the past are still in future tense ("Consolidated Edison is due to make an initial status report, regarding the outage, on August 2"). Someone who is following this, please add info on when the power was fully restored (if it was!?). Eventually there will be some official report explaining (or whitewashing) the causes of the outage, and the article would then benefit from a rewrite, so it is more history and less news. I would like to second the deletion of this article edit

As a citizen of the St. Louis Region, I was infuriated that the national media made the blackout in Queens look like a bigger distaster than the events in the St. Louis Area between July 19, 2006 and July 21, 2006. Then six months later, we recieved a second major storm where the press sought to downplay the icestorm of December 1, 2006 with several fatalities and with an even greater loss of electricity in the Decatur, IL area by citing that nearly 10,000 people in the entire state of New York were without power. Because of the media bias, I would like to second the removal of this article from the Wikipedia database. --Bushido Hacks 01:11, 12 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Your bias neither justifies it's removal either. See also: WP:ILIKEIT. Pacific Coast Highway {Ho! Ho! Ho!My Presents!} 01:55, 12 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Your philosophy would say we should not mention the events of 9/11/2001 because the Tsunami killed more people. Write a good, well sourced article about the causes of your own blackout, the experiences and challenges faced by the people of your area during your 2 day outage of July 2006 or the other outage you described, and the correction of it , with the allocation of responsibility and lesson learned and remedial moves. This article does not "downplay" the other outage. I would certainly read it. Get busy. And please note it was not "10,000 people" since that utility considered an apartment building to be a customer. Edison 17:05, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
