Dates for next term of govenor edit

The date that the next governor would take office is incorrect. I am almost 100% positive that it is not January 1st, however I am not sure what the correct answer is. For the time being I will change it to Jan 2007 to Jan 2011. Davidpdx

In case anyone wonders where I got the information for the changes discussed above please see List of Governors of Oregon. Davidpdx

Updating or creating articles for other candidates edit

Suggestion: Someone should in all fairness start page information on Ron Saxton, Vicki Walker and Jason Atkinson. Also the pages for Kevin Mannix and Pete Sorenson are stubs, so they need some attention as well. Davidpdx 11:51, September 6, 2005

The page for Kevin Mannix is fixed. Davidpdx 10:57, September 7, 2005

Rewrote the page for Pete Sorenson Davidpdx 14:19, 30 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Wrote an article for Ron Saxton, still need to do one for Jason Atkinson though. Davidpdx 12:52, 20 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Changing Ex to former edit

Just a note to the person who changed Ex to former, the wording should remain the same for each person out of fairness. Therefore, I changed the wording back to Ex as were all the other candidates. Davidpdx 14:54, 18 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Ben Westlund edit

I thought Ben Westlund was a Republican.[1] Or is he listed as an independent here because he is contemplating a bid as an independent?--Clipdude 08:55, 21 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

According to the infomation I've seen, he is in fact contemplating a bid as an independant. This is mainly because of the fact Republicans will most likely nominate Kevin Mannix or another party member that has better name recognition. He has not yet made a decision, but if he changes his mind and runs as a Republican, I'll make sure to update the information. My guess is he won't run. In terms of the number of candidates, the field is getting quite crowded right now. Davidpdx 04:26, 27 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
Westlund is officially running as an independent. See his page at external link after his name on this page. --MathMan64 01:18, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

Posting of Information by Walker Campaign edit

I would like to caution the person or persons from the Vicki Walker Campaign for Governor User:12.7.120.9 against posting information. The information provided is biased which goes against the central tenant of Wikipedia. Articles should be NOPV and let the reader decide how to interpret the information provided. Westlund Announcement edit

To the person who moved Westlund from the possibly candidate category to running I reverted the change because based on what I saw on the Oregonlive website as well as his own personal site, he has not yet announced. When he does announce, please provide a link to the newspaper article that has a story about his announcement, like I have for the other candidates. Thanks.. Conflict of Interest Campaigns edit

I urge those who are part of a campaign not to edit on Wikipedia. This is a conflict of interest and against the NPOV guidelines of Wikipedia. Any POV edits will be reverted by myself or other editors. Davidpdx 11:43, 28 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry; I just added W. Ames Curtright to the Republican candidate list because I have heard his radio commercials on KXL and he has a campaign website. While I am part of *a* campaign, I am not part of *his* campaign, and since I did not offer any information on him (either positive or negative), I don't feel that my small changes have compromizes NPOV goals. However, feel free to remove him from the list and the one on "Oregon_election,_2006" if you wish to undo the minor change I made. —Nathan Dahlin, 10:42PM 19 April 2006 (PST)

Adding a link to his website is fine with me. After the primary though, it will be removed since the Republican nominee will have been chosen. Davidpdx 10:53, 20 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Candidate's web pages edit

For each candidate, I added external links to their campaign web pages. I cound not find a page for Kevin Mannix yet. --MathMan64 01:22, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

That's fine, but the links need to go at the bottom of the page. I reverted your edits. Please see the bottom of the page and you should find links to all the campaign websites listed in alphabetical order. Davidpdx 05:12, 29 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, and sorry. --MathMan64 20:34, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

Removal of Westlund and opinion polls edit

I don't think Westlund, and the polling with his candidacy included, should be removed yet. Rather, notes about his withdrawal should be added.

For anyone looking for background on why Westlund may have dropped out, the polling including his candidacy is a vital piece of information.

The information being available in the "history" tab is not sufficient, as many Wikipedia users do not know how to look for older revisions (and even those who do should not have to sift through typo-corrections and the like to find genuine information.)

-Pete 15:31, 11 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Pete, I agree that finding info through the history tabs is difficult even for those of us who have been using it awhile. One thing that could be done is to just readd him as a candidate and then in brackets put "dropped out." There is an article about him, so additional information could be added to that article to better explain why he dropped out.
As for the polling, I think will get confusing if it's readded to this article. Essentially polling for the three way race is obsolete anyway given the fact Westlund has said he isn't going to run. If need be some of the information could be added (in non-chart form) to the article about Westlund to reinforce what effect his campaign had on the race.
Let me know what you think about that. Davidpdx 23:40, 11 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Polls edit

This link contains a list of poll results conducted by several sources. Not sure if some of these could be used in the 'Outlook and opinion polling' section. --Another Believer (Talk) 01:49, 18 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
