Errorneous score edit

I just came back from a the live sydney vs newcastle jets game. the score is 0-2, sydney with 2 goals. I checked here and the score was 2-0 instead. i've changed it. -Yang, 1st Jan 2007, 9:10PM (Eastern Australian Time)

Infobox edit

Hi All, Just started an infobox. I think the total crowd size should be updated after each game, same with goals/leading scorers, but we should probably leave working out averages crowds/goals per game until the end of each round to aviod confusion. Ronan.evans 01:03, 26 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yep, good work - I see Chuq has cleaned it up a little. Thanks anyways, and welcome to the Wikiproject! Daniel.Bryant 12:34, 26 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Team Colours edit

So the over vigilant copyright types destroyed our having the logo next to each team name on lists. Why dont we just have the team names in one of thier colours on a box with another of their colours when they are listed. This would at least give them some visual symbol to look for when scrolling down a page. Would have done it by now if I knew how. Ronan.evans 08:08, 26 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Done. I even got the boxes to always be on the inside :D Daniel.Bryant 12:13, 26 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Upon request and mutual decision between a couple of WP:A-L editors, I removed them. If you want to see what they looked like, an example is Template:A-LeagueTableHome CCM and Template:A-LeagueTableAway CCM. The just change the letters to get different teams. The idea of home and away templates was to always have the boxes running down the inside. If you think you have improved on them, post here or at WP:A-L (go to talk page) and we'll have a look if they're worthy of inclusion. Cheers, Daniel.Bryant 12:33, 26 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sorry about that, you put far too much effort in! Thanks for testing it out. Ronan.evans 21:38, 26 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
No problems. Daniel.Bryant 00:03, 27 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

"Top Scorer" edit

I just removed the initials for the players listed - until there is a double-up of last names in the most goals scored section, just use last names please. Thanks and cheers, Daniel.Bryant 09:05, 27 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Infobox template edit

I created this - it will make things easier/less confusing to change. If you want to make any aesthetical changes to the article, you'll have to do it at the above link. Cheers, Daniel.Bryant 09:42, 27 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I also added it to A-League 2005-06. Daniel.Bryant 09:22, 7 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I thought I'd do something similar for the attendance and eventually came up with {{A-LeagueAttendance}}. Actually half way through, I got confused and I thought that another user had done this already. It's from watching too much football this weekend. --Squilibob 14:17, 29 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Telstra Dome edit

Should the Victory's home ground now be listed as Telstra Dome? --Squilibob 14:55, 22 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Not sure - maybe wait for a media release from the A-League confirming it first. Daniel.Bryant 00:24, 23 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Official announcement here. It's 6 of the remaining 8 home games for Melbourne. Would it be possible to have two rows for Melbourne's home ground on the table? -[dM] 03:48, 23 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Will do. Daniel.Bryant 03:49, 23 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Done. Does that look all right? Daniel.Bryant 04:02, 23 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Telstra Dome - only when no AFL game? edit

I have removed this comment - there isn't a correlation between AFL season and games being at TD.

  • During the AFL season, MV had 4 home games. 2 at Telstra Dome, 2 at Olympic Park.
  • During the AFL off-season MV has 7 home games. 5 at Telstra Dome, 2 at Olympic Park.
  • During the first AFL-season TD game, there were TWO AFL games there the same weekend, so it isn't only when there aren't AFL games being played.
  • To answer Xtra's question - why they play some at OP still - it is because it is a hell of a lot cheaper, and some teams they play won't attract a huge number of people.

Why are the semi's over two legs edit

Can't answer the reason myself but thought I'd ask the question. Very weird (from an Australian perspective) of having 2-leg semi's but only single leg prelims and finals

I have no idea, either. Maybe it is to decrease the significance of finishing 1/2 and 3/4? Daniel.Bryant T · C ] 07:24, 20 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
Also, the team who finishes in 4th wouldn't get a home game in the finals series if the semi's were each a single game. --Squilibob 09:40, 23 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
x2 games equals x2 profits...toenail 23:51, 17 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
2 legs is traditional for end of season finals series around the world. As is a one-off final. The preliminary final is only one week because it is not fair to make the major semi-final winner wait 2 weeks for the grand final and also because neither team playing there completely deserves 2 chances to get it right. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.184.187.2 (talk) 03:53, 26 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Grand final articles edit

This applies to both Grand Final articles (A-League Grand Final 2006 and A-League Grand Final 2007) - my view is that there isn't really anything in these articles that isn't already in the main season article, or in the link report included in the table in the main season article. -- Chuq (talk) 02:48, 16 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I agree. Looks like they should be merged.--Jeff79 23:43, 20 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
That's not really what I had in mind. I was really basing these pages off the pages made for each of the FA Cup finals and the UEFA Champions League finals. Seeing as it is the biggest date on the Australian domestic football calendar the Grand Final should have it's own separate, detailed page. I've provided links to the page in the Finals Series section on each of the A-League Seasons (just like the FA Cup and UEFA Champions League pages). So yeah, no merging please. Blackjanedavey 03:11, 16 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
I think you should keep the separate entry for the Grand final with all the extra details. --202.47.49.246 02:56, 10 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
So what should be done here..? Can we get rid of those ugly merge boxes at the start of the 2 articles soon please. I think they should stay separate since the grand final articles have the nice graphic of the starting lineups/formations and they wouldn't really fit into the main season article too well. The Grand Final articles really need a bit of a write up and summary of what happened though, there is no text on either page. Jared Wiltshire 02:33, 11 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Keep Grand Final article separate - would look to ugly on main page. The GF article could use some filling out with a written summary of the game (perhaps a paragraph for the two halves as well as one for the post match celebrations. 202.67.81.7 (talk) 19:26, 16 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Formatting changes edit

I've reverted the recent changes for a few reasons:

  • Creates inconsistency between different articles
  • While changes are still being made, creates inconsistency between different rounds within an article
  • Removed the use of {{ALeagueMatchSummaryLine}} to keep a standard format. (And prevent the problems resulting in the 2nd dot point)
  • Does not really improve the article in anyway - makes it take up more vertical space.
  • Was a major change and should be discussed on the talk page.

If the format is to be changed, it should be:

  • Discussed on here first
  • Applied to {{ALeagueMatchSummaryLine}} which will then automatically update ALL tables on all articles.

-- Chuq (talk) 13:08, 14 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

The bluer background colors were nice, but it did take up more space for exactly the same information. --Squilibob
