@Cbl62:, the sourced cited discuss Wittenberg's wins from this season being forfeited, not vacated. I don't think vacating wins was something that was done in college football at the time. Vacating didn't start until the 2000s. Whatever the case, it doesn't seem like the forfeits of these wins were implemented, or the forfeits were reversed, as current records don't reflect them: Wittenberg record book], OAC record book, NCAA records. The OAC record book does list the 1970 conference championship as "vacated" on page 4. What happened to Capital's share of the title? You are right; the contemporary sources say "forfeited". As for the wins later being restored, it's a puzzle. We have clear sourcing in December 1970 for the forfeiture. I also noticed that other sources still show the wins. The punishment was harsh, but I haven't been able to find any sources saying the wins were restored.
