Map edit

I WP:BRD reverted a map that was added recently [1], because it seems to be trivial rather than encyclopedic in the context. It does not appear to be helpful to readers of this article, since no one needs to get to these locations for any reason that pertains to the topic, no one needs to compare distances or latitudes, it's not important where one venue is in north–south or east–west relation to the another, and so on. We would use a map for a city article, since it's highly important to readers, in many cases, how to get there from another city and via various routes; but no one is trying to get to a tournament in 1954. :-) We would also likely include a map of the start and end points, and perhaps waystations, in a long-distance race, since understanding the route and the relationship of these points to each other geographically is necessary for a full understanding of that topic.  — SMcCandlish ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ʌ<  01:08, 7 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I am planning on reviewing this article for GA Status, over the next couple of days. Thank you for nominating the article for GA status. I hope I will learn some new information, and that my feedback is helpful.

If nominators or editors could refrain from updating the particular section that I am updating until it is complete, I would appreciate it to remove a edit conflict. Please address concerns in the section that has been completed above (If I've raised concerns up to references, feel free to comment on things like the lede.)

I generally provide an overview of things I read through the article on a first glance. Then do a thorough sweep of the article after the feedback is addressed. After this, I will present the pass/failure. I may use strikethrough tags when concerns are met. Even if something is obvious why my concern is met, please leave a message as courtesy.

Best of luck! you can also use the {{done}} tag to state when something is addressed. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs)

Please let me know after the review is done, if you were happy with the review! Obviously this is regarding the article's quality, however, I want to be happy and civil to all, so let me know if I have done a good job, regardless of the article's outcome.

Lede edit

  • was a professional snooker tournament 5 October 1953 to 6 - missing a word Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 12:24, 25 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Worth saying the event was held over various locations in the British Isles. It currently says it was Manchester for the final, but it was played in Scotland, Jersey and Northern Ireland Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 12:24, 25 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

General edit

  • I feel like some of the two or thee sentence paragraphs could be merged. If you did this, you could probably remove the section headers, and it would look a lot less bare. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 12:28, 25 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • I'd also want to start each round with info as to what the number of frames required to win was. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 12:28, 25 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Do we even need a qualifying section as it didn't take place? I'd move the prose to the summary and delete the table. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 12:28, 25 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Moved to background, as it seemed to follow from the part already there about qualifying. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 13:57, 25 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • The schedule section could probably do with labelling the countries that those places are. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 12:29, 25 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Amended. I couldn't dig up any further details on the Jersey venue. (My guess would be it's the place used for the 1957 Championship.) BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 13:57, 25 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
