I was sweating bullets over a series of name changes for the U of O season pages, but it does appear that the common moniker of the team changed from Webfoots to Ducks circa 1940. One still sees "Webfoots" in some newspaper headlines through the early 1960s. As I mentioned in my page move notations, the earliest surviving UO football media guide digitized on Archive.org has "1951 Ducks" as a headline inside and uses "Webfoots" once and "Ducks" about five more times as page headers.
