Fair use rationale for Image:NSWRFL 1983.jpg edit

Image:NSWRFL 1983.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Changed Infobox edit

Changed the infobox from 'rugby league season' to 'rugby football league season', copied data from old box and added more appropriate data. The latter template allows more first grade information, and 2nd grade and 3rd grade results to be recorded in the infobox.

Lower Grades edit

Added a Second Grade section based on research utilising the National Library of Australia's Trove website. It appears that Western Suburbs withdrew with three matches to play. Also, I've not been able to find, using Trove's excellent search functionality, the results of five second grade matches. 1909 lower grade results were published in the Sydney Moring Herald, the Evening News and the Sunday Times, although not every week. It is possible that the missing results are in other newspapers, albeit unlikely. The mock competition table has been included as it seems easier to present my findings that way, rather than a lengthy description.
Intending to add a third grade section soon.

I have undertaken further research by going through microfilm copies of the Daily Telegraph and Sunday Sun which are available at the State Library of NSW but are not yet on Trove. I found results for the five "missing" Second Grade matches. Whilst a few more Third Grade results were found on microfilm, there are still nine matches that are listed as fixtures, for which I was unable to locate a result. Two of the nine, those due to be played on May 15, 1909. might have been postponed to a later date. Perhaps Newtown, having forfeited to South Sydney Federal, were given a second chance on May 15, but again failed to muster a team.
Today's update reflects that research, clarifying Second Grade, but only partially improving the understanding of how the Third Grade competition played out. Nhoj1898 (talk) 12:32, 29 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
