Richard Earnhart (age 11) won the El Paso Herald-Post spelling bee on April 30, 1942. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Earnhart of 4507 Pershing Drive. See (1 May 1942). Coldwell School Student Wins Spelling Bee Trip to Washington; Richard Earnhart Places First in Exciting Finish of Contest], El Paso Herald-Post. The paper reported on May 18, 1960 that Richard (now age 29) was at that time seeking a master's degree in English at North Texas State College at Denton. On April 13, 1961, the paper ran a longer article on Earnhart (now 30); noted mother's full name was Winifred W. Earnhart, who also now was living in Denton. Richard graduated from Kingsville High School in 1948, and graduated from SMU in 1951. He was about to get his master's degree.--Milowent • hasspoken 17:06, 31 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
According to SSN information, Richard Anson Earnhart (son of Glen W. and Winifed A. Wilhite Earnhart) was born in Denver, Colorado on February 28, 1931, and died on November 21, 1999 (in Minnesota). Based on that he was 11 years, 2 months, 28 days (4105 days old) at time he won bee, younger than Neuhauser.--Milowent • hasspoken 17:20, 31 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
