  • Similarly, those articles include tables showing the two teams results in the earlier rounds, would that lend itself well to this article?
    • I'm not sure there's room for that in this article and, given that there isn't much more detail in the section other than the results of the matches, it would essentially just be duplicating the prose, would it not......? -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 10:28, 25 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
      • I agree, I was just voicing the option. Harrias talk 16:37, 26 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • In the summary, Hughes' two goals could do with a space between them to make it easier to read.

Will carry out a full copy-edit later, but these are the initial points from a quick read through. Harrias talk 10:23, 25 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • Could you provide a reference for the Old Etonians being for former pupils of Eton College? It would also be useful to mention if it was restricted to former pupils, or just loosely based on former pupils.
    • Ref added. I can't find a ref which says for 100% certain that no non-OE has ever played for the club, but certainly every player who represented the OEs in the Cup Final attended Eton, and I'd be surprised, given the public school old boy culture, if they'd allow any non-OE oiks to play for the club :-) -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 17:00, 26 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
  • You repeat "opted" quite quickly together at the end of the first paragraph of the match summary, and then again at the start of the second paragraph, perhaps look at changing one of them?
  • "The crowd was estimated at 3,500, the largest yet recorded for an FA Cup Final." – I know what you mean, but the sentence is ambiguous, and could be read that up to now (2011) there hasn't been a larger crowd recorded. Try replacing with "to that point" or similar.
  • What is meant by a "scrimmage" in this context? Some explanation of this would be useful.
  • You place (disputed) after Bonsor's goal in the match Details, but I can't see any evidence that the goal is disputed, merely that the modern reports attribute the goal, while older ones do not: is there a source which actually disputes that Bonsor scored the goal?
    • Yes, Warsop disputes that Bonsor scored the goal, by dint of pointing out that reports contemporary to the final don't mention it. I have put a ref against the "disputed" -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 17:00, 26 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Otherwise, the article looks pretty good to me, shouldn't be too much more work to get it passed. Given your pretty speedy response before, I'll won't put the article on hold right away: no point creating work for myself if you're going to get all the editing done within the next half hour! Harrias talk 16:37, 26 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

All done, I think -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 17:00, 26 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Brilliant, good work, and thanks for the rapid response: I'm happy to pass the article. Harrias talk 17:05, 26 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Corrected Player Surname edit

I have corrected the surname of player listed twice as "Herbert Allene" to "Alleyne". He is a subject of the player who's who in Keith Warsop's "The Early F.A. Cup Finals", covering 1872 to 1883. (Full name Herbert Percy Alleyne, born 1855, died 1884.)Cloptonson (talk) 20:08, 28 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Irrelevant Link edit

I have removed link from name of Matthew Farrer as it connects him to article on another man with that name who was in fact born in 1929 after the player's lifetime which ended in January 1928.217.39.70.132 (talk) 20:15, 28 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
