Section on 1969-1970 operations edit

This section (as of this date) is a quote of an AFHRA abstract of the 1969 activities of the 2d Aircraft Delivery Group. Although the squadron was assigned to the group, its mission was not associated with the aircraft ferrying mission of the 2d and the numbers quoted are for the entire group. I will delete it and replace it. --Lineagegeek (talk) 15:35, 8 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Aircraft and mission during the 1950s edit

The article states that the squadron flew the C-124 during the 1950s. This is questionable on two grounds:

The 1703d Air Transport Group did not equip with C-124s until 1954. Before that (plus overlap) its heavy airlift units flew the C-74.
Equipping with the C-124 is inconsistent with the unit designation as an Air Transport Squadron, Medium. Although I cannot find specific aircraft breakout for the three airlift squadrons of the 1703d, the group continued to fly C-54s through this period. I believe they were assigned to the 13th.

The article talks about the strategic global airlift mission (probably based on C-124 use). The 1952 history of the unit cited in the article indicates that at least initially the squadron focused on airlift in the Caribbean, which is consistent with the range of the C-54.--Lineagegeek (talk) 15:42, 8 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
