I've decided to branch out from my usual subjects and give this one a review. It piqued my interest as I recently visited York earlier in the year and visited the ruins of St Mary's Abbey (although this chap obviously pre-dates that).

Ok, so to the review:

  • Lead: Is it worth linking to York Minster where it states Cathedral with a piped link?
    • I've avoided linking to our York Minster article because the building that Æthelbert knew isn't the current building. I could link if you're really concerned, but the article has very little on the history of Æthelbert's building, so I thought it best to avoid confusion. • Early life: "where he was a pupil" - either needs a rework and a capitalisation, or the full stop prior to that part of the sentence needs to be changed to a comma.
  • Archbishop: Is there any significance to who Alubert was?
    • Not sure yet. Easy to leave a redlink in while I continue half-heartedly looking at sources. Ealdgyth - Talk 17:44, 6 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Is it worth clarifying who the Picts are or where they are located? I wouldn't say to give any weight to any additions here as its a fine balancing line to explain to a reader unfamiliar with the term but not enough to drag the article off topic. Perhaps something just along the line of "sent the ex-king north into exile with the Picts".
  • References: The Rollason reference has a strange double bracket as part of the subscription required tag. Is that removable, or just something automatic?

I think that pretty much should be it. It is impressive that so much information can be gathered on someone from the 8th century! Miyagawa (talk) 22:19, 4 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • Æthelbert is pretty lucky that Alcuin was his pupil, thus we know a bunch more than for most figures of the time. Thank you for the review! Ealdgyth - Talk 17:44, 6 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
No problem, I thought it might be the case with York Minister and the Alubert link is always something that you can come back and deal with later if further sources bring him name up. Happy to promote this one to GA.
