TEG Federal Credit Union (formerly Taconic Educators and Government Federal Credit Union) is a federally chartered credit union in the New York counties of Dutchess, Orange, and Ulster. As of 2010[update], the institution has $148 million in assets, 59 full- and part-time employees, and 18,500 members.
The credit union provides savings and checking accounts, home and car loans, as well as Visa credit and debit cards.
History
When TEG FCU was founded in 1969, membership was limited to educators and government employees in the area, hence the bank's original name. Though initially denied,[1] TEGCU eventually acquired a community charter in 2002, allowing anyone who lives, works, worships, attends school, or volunteers in Dutchess, Ulster, and Orange counties to join the credit union. TEG Federal provides an annual $1,000 scholarship to student members.[2]
