As of the 2001 Census of India[update],[2] Suar had a population of 26,142. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Suar has an average literacy rate of 28%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 34%, and female literacy is 20%. In Suar, 19% of the population is under 6 years of age.
