Premium Content Group
Roxio is an American software company specializing in consumer digital media products. Its product line includes products for the creation of digital media projects, media conversion software, and content distribution systems. The company was formed by a spin-off of Adaptec's software division in 2001, and by its acquisition of MGI Software in 2002.
Roxio was acquired by Sonic Solutions in 2003, followed by its acquisition of Simple Star and CinemaNow in 2008. Sonic Solutions would be acquired by Rovi Corporation in 2010—but Rovi later announced in January 2012 that it would be selling Roxio to the Canadian software company Corel. The acquisition closed on February 7, 2012.
