Respiratory distress syndrome
There are two forms of respiratory distress syndrome:
- ARDS, which is acute (or adult) respiratory distress syndrome
- Infant respiratory distress syndrome (RDS), which is a complication of premature birth, also known as hyaline membrane disease (HMD)
