Parihar
Parihar/Parhar (पड़िहार, परिहार, पड़ियार, प्रतिहार, परहार) is a Rajputs clan which is part of many communities including , Gurjars, Sikhs in India. It was an Agnikula tribe.[1] The Parihar population and the former Parihars states are found spread through the subcontinent, particularly in north, west and central India. Populations are found in Rajasthan, Saurashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar.
In the Miyagam State in Gujarat near Baroda State in Karjan taluka Rajputs are Padhiyar, Parihar Dynasty. Relations in Ambliara State are the Songara. The royal family in Sabarkantha Agency are the Rajputana.
In the State of Punjab, India, most of the Sikh Rajputs are settled in the Doaba region, Districts - Jullundur, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala and Nawanshehar. Their last names are Parhar, Parihar, Parmar, Panwar, Puar, Pawar, Chauhan, Rathore, Minhas, Manhas, Jaswal, Janjua, Luddu, Saroya, Doad, Manj, Bhatti and Bhagel. During the seventeen, eighteen and mid nineteen centuries, the Sikh Rajputs used to be known as very criminal and fearless people. With the time they have been changed a lot. Now they are known as very educated and respectable people in the region. Most of the Parhars/Parihars are from villages Kalra in district Jullundur and Karnana in district Nawanshehar. A majority of the Parhars/Parihars have been migrated to the foreign countries mainly to USA, Canada, Europe and Australia and are well settled there.
