Nuevo Rocafuerte is a town in Ecuador. The capital of Aguarico Canton in Orellana Province, it was founded in 1942 as a result of a battle which displaced the inhabitants of the original settlement and subsequent border agreements which made this location a key border spot on the border with Peru.

It is the birthplace of 46th Ecuadorian president Lenín Moreno.[2]

Nació allí porque sus padres -profesores- decidieron trabajar en Nuevo Rocafuerte, que aún hoy no tiene conexión por carretera. Un error en la inscripción en el Registro Civil hizo que su segundo nombre fuera Boltaire, en vez de Voltaire. "Papá era de ideas socialistas y mamá de ideas liberales. A ellos les gustaba mucho leer; a papá, Lenín; y a mamá, Voltaire", explicó.
