The party contested the 2021 municipal elections with Adams running as the party's mayoral candidate in the City of Cape Town.[6][7] The party won seven council seats in Cape Town and one seat in the Saldanha Bay Local Municipality.[8]

In 2023, the party renamed itself from the Cape Coloured Congress to the National Coloured Congress, and intends to contest the 2024 South African general election on a national level.[9]
