Nadabet, also known as the 'Wagah of Gujarat', is a border location in Gujarat, India, developed as a tourist destination by the Gujarat Tourism Department.[1][2] It is known for the Seema Darshan Project, a state-of-the-art initiative by the Border Security Force (BSF) to promote border tourism.

History and development edit

The idea of developing Nadabet as a tourist spot gained momentum as part of the Seema Darshan Project, initiated to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The project, costing ₹125 crore, aims to provide visitors with a first-hand experience of the life of BSF personnel and the challenges faced at the border.[3][4]

Attractions edit

Nadabet offers a range of attractions, including:

  • Seema Darshan Complex: A key feature of Nadabet, showcasing the history and role of the BSF. It includes a 30-feet high T-Junction Pillar adorned with murals and the 'Ajay Prahari' monument, honouring soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
  • Interactive Installations: The complex features high-tech interactive installations, including virtual patrolling and simulators, providing an immersive experience of border life.
  • Museum and Galleries: The museum space has six galleries, offering insights into the geographic and demographic aspects of Nadabet and the challenges of border terrain.
  • Adventure Arena: Activities like zip-lining, shooting, and paintball are available for visitors, along with displays of military equipment like missiles, tanks, and aircraft.
  • Ceremonial Events: The retreat ceremony, similar to the Wagah Border ceremony, is a major draw, featuring the ceremonial lowering of the flag by BSF soldiers.[5]
