Ugly map! edit

Is it just me, or does everyone else find the current map (file:Montreal-boroughs-post-demerger.png) used for this template also extremely ugly? The thick black line is too overwhelming, the names are just cluttering (and can't be read when used in an infobox), and the various colours are plain ugly. All this makes any location marker superimposed on this map nearly invisible. I suggest to make a map that will have the same feel and colours as the Quebec location map (File:Canada Quebec location map 2.svg). -- P 1 9 9   20:31, 10 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

A gallery of images already upload can be found at commons:Category:Maps of Montreal. File:Carte Grand Montreal.png is an OpenSreetMap map of greater Montreal. 117Avenue (talk) 04:12, 11 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
None of the maps were consistent with File:Canada Quebec location map 2.svg, so I made one myself. It is very close to the view and ratio of the existing map so it can be swapped almost seamlessly. Any thoughts on this map? -- P 1 9 9   00:07, 15 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

I don't know much about Montreal, but your new map taught me that Montreal has enclaves. The grey lines defining Montreal's neighbourhoods could be sharpened, but otherwise looks good. 117Avenue (talk) 03:44, 15 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
New version with thinner borough lines uploaded. -- P 1 9 9   04:37, 16 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
Looks good. 117Avenue (talk) 05:33, 16 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
The new map looks fantastic. The old one bugged me for some time, but I never knew how to make/use another one. Thank you!--MTLskyline (talk) 03:43, 18 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
  • I'm planning on putting the map in all of the Montreal neighbourhood articles. However, when I tried to put it in the infobox of the Côte-Saint-Paul article, it did not work. I compared it with some of the articles that already have it, and could not determine why it was not working. Do you know if I did something wrong?--MTLskyline (talk) 22:12, 18 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
  • Simple little problem. Seen it before. The latitude and longitude parameters were duplicated farther below in the infobox. The second set will override the first, thereby creating the error. Regards, P 1 9 9   14:41, 19 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
