Rao Mitra Sen Ahir, an Ahir from Behror, became the ruler of Ahirwal in the 18th century with capital at Rewari.[1] He fought against many enemies, including Muslims, Marathas, British and Kachhwaha (Shekhawat) rulers of Jaipur.[2]

He also fought Battle of Mandan and annexed Mandan, Jhunjhunu etc. In 1785, a Maratha expedition to Rewari was repelled by Rao Mitra Sen of Rewari. Shortly afterwards, he died. The Marathas tried to invade again, but suffered heavy loss by Rao Raja Ram Singh of Rewari.[3][4]
Legacy edit
Every year in the months of May-June, there is a fair organized at the border near Lisan-Gokalgarh villages in the memory of Rao Mitra sen. Khichdi is made and women sing bhajan in local dialect i.e. Ahirwati.[5]
