Mika John Vukona (born 13 May 1982 in Suva, Fiji) is a New Zealand professional basketball player who currently plays for the New Zealand Breakers and the Nelson Giants. He is also a regular New Zealand Tall Black. He has been a member of the U/16, U/18 and U/20 national teams.
Career
Vukona attended Nelson College in 2000 and played for the school's 'A' basketball team.[1] He played for the Nelson Giants in the New Zealand NBL (he previously played for the Palmerston North Jets) and was elevated from a development player to a contracted player for the 2005/2006 season with the New Zealand Breakers. He was a member of the Tall Blacks side for 2005 and 2006, and competed in the 2006 World Basketball Championships in Japan. He signed with the New Zealand Breakers for the 2006/2007 season, and chose to sign with the South Dragons for the 2008/09 season.[2] For the 2010/11 and 2011/12 ANBL seasons, he was a member of the championship winning New Zealand Breakers.[3]
On 28 February 2013, Vukona played his 200th game with the New Zealand Breakers.[4]
