The name is derived from Tuguria Sclava, the name of the ancient village from the time of Charlemagne that was built on the same hill as a part of the present Stiava. The village hosts two annual events :
-
Polenta festival in July, a local variation with mushrooms
-
Festa del Pesce (Fish Festival) in August
